A mystical hamlet named Karang Kenik in Situbondo could be the one most popular in this town. This place has known by people as their myth for the smallest settlement and only 26 total families. Meanwhile, the locals were proud because their place has a unique culture that could be introduced to wider communities.

Compile and collect a variety of sources of information, the myth that characteristic the hamlet of Karang Kenik, it begun by ancestral's life stories and narrated as the first person who came and lived were involved in a covenant with somethings like supernatural creature may at that time a grand duke leads their hermitage at this place. Meanwhile, not all of the locals who live in that hamlet knew those stories and most of them only knew prince Tunggul Angin (an ancestor) who contributed to their hamlet earlier till now and remembering by their people. And the locals in that hamlet have no matter about 26 head-families in total that occur. Besides, they're proud of its special and unique from others. Most people who live in that hamlet are farmers and now the hamlet was known as 'Karang Kenik 26'.

HOW  WE CAN GET THERE?

If you were in Situbondo, Karang Kenik is not far away from this town. If I can redirect you from a town-square, you just need to go to the north it's about 5,6 kilometers (or approximately 10 minutes on driving) from the center of this town. Or just type 'Karang Kenik' on Google Map, then follow the route and it would be the easiest way. I recommend you are going to this place when dusk for a sunset. It would bring you to a different scenery living in a village.

When I was in travel, it's only about relaxation for the tired brains as a worker-civilization. I think 'travel' is a key to people's home, the key to their culture and we must use the key correctly. We must choose to travel mindfully and travel with purpose. We need to learn, educate others and respect the places we visit.

Traveling to different places is not only about visiting beautiful destinations, but also about getting to know the locals and learning about what it is really like to live there. It's an opportunity to learn about their lives, customs, and traditions. It's a time to learn how we affect their way of life. It is an opportunity to ask a simple question: "What is the footprint that we leave behind as tourists (visitors)?"

Every time I embark on a new adventure to a new place, I always travel mindfully and I travel with purpose. I love meeting with locals in order to talk and learn from them about their home place. I love supporting locals when I travel to destinations. So I scouted out a local, the way he told his stories and the way he related the information to me was one of a kind. He gave me loads of giggles, but behind his sarcasm and jokes lied some pretty harsh truth.

To travel with purpose and to travel mindfully is important, as I hope it is to yours. We all need to take care of this world and spend a little more time learning about it. As I say, it's the things that you cannot learn at school sitting behind the desk or from the comfy couch whilst staring into the TV screen. You can make a difference on your next trip. Try to support the locals instead of those large fancy international brands. Could you stay at a local run boutique hotel? Could you eat at a local food joint? How about hiring a local tour guide? Think about how you can put the money back where it belongs! Life is out there, outside the square we live in. Enjoy your travel and enjoy the world. Travel, learn, and only leave positive footprints!
