Tourism is a service that is needed to support the economy of a region because it can increase regional income and foreign exchange. The development of the business world of tourism services is very rapid and varied because tourism is one of Mr. President Joko Widodo's main programs to create new jobs for the local community.

Kampung Blekok is a new kinda mangrove ecotourism nature-based conservation area where there lived about a thousand freshwater and coastal birds (herons).

And why are the locals called them "Kampung Blekok"?

A chief of Kelompok Sadar Wisata Kholid Maulana said, "in here (Kampung Blekok) lived many Javan pond heron (Ardeola speciosa) and other species of Ardeidae". The Javan pond heron is a wading bird of the heron family, found in shallow fresh and salt-water wetlands. Its diet comprises insects, fishes, and crabs. It's typically 45 cm long with white eyes, a yellow bill with a black tip.
Other species that Khalid Maulana said such as little egret (Egretta garzetta), cattle egret (Bubulcus ibis), black-crowned night heron (Nycticorax nycticorax), grey heron (Ardea cinerea), purple heron (Ardea purpurea), and striated heron (Butorides striatus). They're flying earlier in the morning (5 o'clock) and will back to their nest in the afternoon or dusk when the sunset.

Kampung Blekok it is located in Klatakan Village, Sub-District of Kendit, Situbondo regency. The location is not far enough from downtown, it about 10 km heading to the northwest.

Since 2017, through the *Regent Regulation (PERBUB Situbondo No. 13 Tahun 2017) about Biodiversity Conservation has been established as a mangrove area inhabited by birds water Ardeidae called 'Blekok' by local people. Even it opened to the public in 2017, but it launched in March 2019. Kampung Blekok has reached more than 13.500 visitors within the local tourist and international like India and Singapore, and other countries around this globe.

To get there, people should take cost about five thousand rupiahs for a person (adult only), and for children, it would be free or just pay half price, but don't forget to pay parking ticket for vehicles. And the visitor should be walking on foot towards the Ardeidae captivity (captive heron breeding) and there is a wooden dock to lead the visitor across the mangrove and walking towards the beach.
